On this in-depth introductory course you will learn:

- how to prepare the marbling bath

- how to mix paints especially for fabric

- what fabrics to use and how to prepare them for marbling

- how to make traditional and contemporary patterns using marbling tools

This class shows you how to make inks from pre-made paints that are readily available, and concentrates on the use of water-based paints. There will also be a chance for you to pre-prepare any fabrics you would like to test prior to the class, but otherwise all materials and fabrics will be provided. Previous marbling experience is not necessary but it is advantageous to get the most out of the class.

Marbling can be a wonderfully messy business, so please wear old clothes/shoes/an apron that you don't mind getting a bit paint-splattered! Materials will be provided for the workshop but there will be supplies and packs available to purchase on the day. Please do bring a packed lunch or snack. There are cafes/supermarkets about 5-10mins walk away. Teas and coffees and biscuits will be near at hand all day!

Please also be aware that we have a studio dog called Ludo, who is very docile, soppy, and addicted to attention and peanut butter.
